Kids Room Blinds
Kids Room Blinds in Auckland
Our German-manufactured blinds are inherently designed with multiple safety features to protect our children and pets, in accordance with European safety regulations. When choosing blinds for a children’s room, safety comes first — but functionality, comfort, and healthy materials are important. The right window covering should create a safe, practical, and comfortable environment for your child.
Fabrics
One often-overlooked factor when selecting blinds for a child’s room, or any room in the house, is the fabric’s origin and the safety standards for harmful substances and dyes. This is especially important, as sunlight can heat blind fabrics and potentially release toxins into the air.
You can be confident that all our pleated, honeycomb, and roller blind fabrics are manufactured in Europe/Germany and comply with strict European standards and guidelines. A large proportion of our fabrics are also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, ensuring high textile safety standards
Blind Operation & Style
To improve child safety around blinds, we offer a range of blind systems and safety features, including:
- Tensioned cordless blind
- Top-down/bottom-up (TDBU) blinds
- Cord and chain breakaway safety systems
- Crank-operated blinds
- Automated blind options
These systems help create a safer environment while offering excellent light control, privacy, and ease of use.
Room Darkening & Blackout Options
For room-darkening or blackout solutions, Roman blinds and Honeycomb blinds are excellent choices. They leave only a minimal light gap between the blind and window recess and are available in Top-Down/Bottom-Up (TDBU) and tensioned systems to minimise swaying, reduce noise, and improve insulation.
Cassette roller blinds can also be fitted with side channels to help create a blackout effect.
Models & Safety Features
Cordless Tensioned Blinds
ordless tensioned blinds are among the safest blind systems available, with no hanging cords or chains. Their tensioned design also helps prevent swaying in drafts and reduces noise.
Available in:
- Roman blinds
- Aluminium Venetian blinds
- Honeycomb & Pleated blinds
- Day & Night blinds
Cordless blinds are available in both standard bottom-up operation and Top-Down/Bottom-Up (TDBU) operation.
Top-Down / Bottom-Up (TDBU) Blinds
TDBU blinds allow the blind to be raised from below, helping block views from street level while still allowing natural light into the room. This creates both privacy and a cozy atmosphere.
Available in:
- Roman blinds
- Venetian blinds
- Honeycomb blinds
TDBU blinds are available in cordless, tensioned, corded, chain-operated, and automated models. Their close fit to the recess also makes them ideal for room-darkening applications. Depending on blind size, selected Day & Night Honeycomb models are available.
Chain-Operated Blinds
Our chain-operated honeycomb blinds (Model WFK) include a child-safe chain breakaway mechanism, making them a very safe option
Other chain-operated blinds, including Venetian, Roman, and Roller blinds, include a chain tensioner which must be installed at a minimum height of 1600mm from the floor. Depending on the model, they can also be fitted with additional chain break devices and anti-sway mechanisms.
Cord-Operated Honeycomb & Pleated Blinds
Cord-Operated Honeycomb & Pleated Blinds
Depending on blind dimensions, cord-operated Honeycomb and Pleated blinds can be fitted with child safety breakaway devices and anti-swing systems. Cord cleats must be installed at a minimum height of 1600mm from the floor.
Crank-Operated Venetian Blinds
50mm Aluminium Venetian blinds with crank operation are a safe and practical choice, particularly for larger windows. They are quick and easy to operate and can be fitted with ladder tape to reduce direct sunlight through cord-guide holes, making them a good room-darkening option (though not full blackout).
Automated Blinds
Roman, Roller, Pleated, Honeycomb, and Venetian blinds can all be motorised. Depending on the model, some systems include the Motionblind automated pull-chain attached to the headrail, allowing the blind to be operated with a simple pull — eliminating the need to open an app or locate a remote.
This can be an excellent option for older children, giving them easy independent control.
Retrofitting existing roller blinds may also be possible
