Honeycomb Blinds

Honeycomb Blinds

Honeycomb blinds, also known as Therma Cell or Cellular blinds, offer a perfect balance of style, insulation, and light control.

Their unique cellular structure traps air in the honeycomb pockets, helping regulate indoor temperatures and reduce energy costs year-round. They keep your home cool in summer or warm in winter, making them the best insulating Window treatment on the market. With their contemporary elegance, honeycomb blinds are suitable for modern and classic-style homes.

FABRICS

Besides improving a room’s look, an internal privacy Shield, sun protection, also helps increase its visual appeal and thermal comfort. Glare/UV protection, transparency, privacy shield, heat protection in summer and blackout Performance is the most important function of textile drapes……

Our fabrics are mainly made of high-quality PES (polyester), VI-Viscose, and PCR (recycled material), with a vast range of OEKOtex-certified 100% fabrics tested and free of harmful chemicals, as well as PVC-free fabrics.

Our quality European-manufactured fabrics are dust-repellent and, depending on the fabric, offer specific properties, such as suitability for damp rooms, woven from special water-resistant fibres that remain stable even when wet, and fast-dry. With adequate ventilation, they are unlikely to be affected by mildew or mould. Fabrics that are damp-wipeable, hand-washable, dirt-repellent, flame-retardant, anti-microbial and anti-fungal, glare- and UV-protective, and available in a wide range of colours and patterns, making them a fantastic choice for private and commercial use.

Darkening and Privacy Policy:

Blind fabrics can be selected by their darkening and privacy properties. Translucent fabric blinds are ideal for living spaces where a balance between privacy and comfortable light is sought, with many fabrics having excellent UV protection. Dim-Out fabric blinds are optimal for workspaces with sun-oriented aspects that require significant glare reduction, yet natural lighting remains sufficient for work without artificial lighting Blackout fabric blinds are particularly suited to bedrooms and other spaces where room darkening and privacy are essential. And any degree of opacity in between. See ouar fabric guide for information. Our pleated blind fabric collection includes two additional low-opacity fabrics (transparent and semi-transparent)

Heat and Glare protection

Blind fabrics can be selected based on their heat and glare protection properties to optimise room temperature regulation. These properties – transmission, absorption and reflection – are displayed next to each fabric and are determined by weave, colour and coating.
Transmission describes the amount of light that passes through the pleated blind’s fabric. The lower the transmission value, the less daylight passes through the fabric.
Absorption describes the amount of light that is swallowed and transformed to heat by the pleated blind’s fabric. Lighter colours will absorb the least light.
Reflection describes the amount of light that is thrown back by the honeycomb blind’s fabric. The higher the reflection

+value, the more light the fabric reflects and the better it helps keep rooms cool. In addition to their fundamental weave and colour properties, fabrics with a white backing or specialised reflective coating (Perlex®) on their exterior-facing sides are particularly effective at reflecting light.

GLARE REDUCTION FOR YOUR WORKSPACES and UV protection fabrics

Protection from glare is vital for commercial and/or workstation applications to prevent eye strain and fatigue. The transmission value of a fabric is significant for glare reduction, though the protection it provides varies with a window’s orientation. For example, the indirect light falling through a south-facing window can be effectively reduced with a high transmission value of up to 20%, while glare protection from direct light requires fabrics with a much lower transmission value. For offices and other commercial applications, we recommend the following minimum transmission values depending on the orientation of the window:

  • North facing: 0 – 5 %
  • East and west facing: 2 – 6 %
  • South facing: 15 – 20 %

All fabrics with a transmission value of 20% or less are marked as suitable for workstations.

OPERATION STYLES

PLISSEE BLINDS offer cordless, cord-operated, chain-operated, and automated blinds in 20mm, 25mm, and 45mm honeycomb fabric cell sizes and different rail/profile widths to accommodate a wide range of applications.

A unique privacy and sun protection solution tailored to your needs.  It is our priority to help you select blinds that are best suited to your windows and lifestyle.

Duo day and Night blinds

Duo day-and-night blinds combine two fabrics into a single honeycomb blind. They are available in corded and cordless models. Each of the two blind fabrics can be independently adjusted, with the sections linked by a middle rail. One fabric can be completely hidden so that the window area is covered by the other fabric only; both window blind fabrics can be hidden away by closing the blind, or a combination of both fabrics can be visible. A combination of one transparent/translucent and one dim-out/black-out fabric allows for optimal versatility in use, with control over light ingress, heat transfer, and privacy. Duo blinds are perfect for bedrooms, offices, living areas, and homes where passive thermal insulation is a goal.

1. Cordless or tension cord blinds

Cordless, also called tension cord blinds, available in 20mm and 25mm honey-cell, are our most popular blind layout, which, depending on the model, can be lowered from the top of the window and raised from the bottom using movable rails. This combines easy and safe cordless operation of the blind with optimal control over light and privacy. Blinds lowered from the top prevent passerby from looking inside, while letting plenty of light inside the house from the top with a clear view to the outside, creating a safe space for you and your family.
Cordless/tension cord blinds are especially safe and convenient to operate and have no visible strings when lowered from the top. As the blind depends on friction to be held up, there are size limitations to these types, depending on model, average width is up to 1.5 metres, with wider models available of up to 1800mm and 2000mm for pleated blind fabrics, and are available in different rail widths for different mounting situations. Also available in automated and smart home connectivity versions.

Balcony door blind

Top-down and bottom-up operation. This new slim rail model comes in a 17mm slim rail/profile and a 20mm honey-cell. This configuration-blind system, which can be operated from either side and fits between sliding panels of balcony doors with a 20mm distance between them, makes a fantastic privacy blind.     Lowered blinds from the top can significantly affect what can be seen from street level, below, from across or from the neighbours, while letting plenty of light in and providing a clear view outside. They create a safer, more comfortable living environment and can block unsightly street views. The most popular option is the horizontal or vertical adhesive mount. Fasten the blind with the horizontal adhesive mount, without drilling; clamp or drill options available.

Cordless/tension cord operation, blind style

Cordless blind, option A) (WVS1/1600)  Bottom-up and bottom-down operation. The operation of a “Cordless” bottom-up and bottom-down model is done by raising and lowering the blind using a small handle attached to the free-moving bottom rail, with the top rail being mounted fixed. The blind can be stopped at any position, and, as there are no cords, this option provides the optimum in child safety and is available in widths of 2000mm, depending on the supplier.

Cordless blind, option B) (models WVS2-MAXI, WSE, WVS2/1615)

Cordless blind, option B) (models WVS2-MAXI, WSE, WVS2/1615). Top-down and Bottom-Up operation. This cordless configuration-blind system, which can be operated from either side, is the best-selling among all honeycomb and pleated blinds and, depending on the model, is available up to 1800mm wide. Because the top and bottom rails can be operated continuously, the pleated fabric can be positioned at the top, bottom or in the middle at any height with no cords visible when lowered. The four clamping feet of the blind can be screwed directly into the recess, a glazing bead, or wall brackets, or mounted on the glazing without drilling by adhesive mount, to a width of 1800mm, depending on the model. In addition to a vast selection of fabrics, you can choose from different profile colours to put together a unique privacy and sun protection solution tailored to your needs. (this configuration is available automated)

Day and Night or duo honeycomb

Option 1

blind is available in bottom-up and bottom-down, as well as top-down and bottom-up configurations. Day and night Cordless blind, Option A) (WS3D model). Top-down and bottom-up cordless configuration features a fixed top rail and freely moving bottom rail, with two middle rails. Blinds stacked on top of each other, allowing two fabrics in one system for great flexibility, and available in a width of 1000mm. These cordless blinds are a safe choice for kids’ bedrooms and make fantastic privacy blinds.

Day-and-night cordless blind, option B) (WVS3/1620 model)

Bottom-up and bottom-down cordless operation. This duo day-and-night blind combines two fabrics into one blind for added functionality. Available in widths up to 1500mm. One half of the blind fabric is light-blocking, and the other half is light-filtering. Its upper rail remains stationary; both blind fabrics are joined by an adjustable middle rail; and the lower rail is also adjustable. This concept gives you the freedom of opening and closing both fabrics together or independently, each being long enough to cover the whole surface of the window on its own. The blind is laterally braced to prevent swaying. The dual-fabric blind is suitable for rectangular windows of all kinds, depending on the chosen blind mounting option. On request, two operating handles can be attached to the rails in blinds wider than 1200 mm

Cord and chain operated blind style

They are free-hanging and can be made in much larger sizes, depending on the model, up to 2500mm wide for cord-operated models and up to 3500mm wide for chain-operated models. (automation available). Available in 25mm and 38mm honey-cell sizes, depending on the model.  Many of the features that are particularly sought after in cordless blinds are also possible with cord-operated blinds: for example, the privacy offered by top-down/bottom-up operation, and lateral bracing to keep the blinds from swaying in the draft.Lateral bracing keeps your blinds from swaying. All our cordless blinds, and some free-hanging cord-operated blinds (as an optional feature), are laterally braced. This means tensioned cords run along the left and right edges of the blind (secured at the base) and guide the blind rails up and down. This method of bracing is essential for blinds mounted directly to openable windows, such as tilt & turn windows, as the blind then follows the window’s movement. Lateral bracing is also particularly useful for blinds fitted in other locations where air movement may usually cause the blind rail to sway. Enjoy a light breeze from an open window without the nuisance of a wildly swaying blind.

Manual Operation options for Honeycomb Pleated Blinds:

  1. Cord Lock: available in both top-down and bottom-up operation, and bottom-up and bottom-down configurations available in 25mm cell size in our contemporary narrow profiles. Operation with a cord lock is very similar to Venetian blinds. Raising and lowering the blinds is achieved using the pull cords. There are two more configuration options available with the Cord Lock operation:

Corded blind, Option A) (F1/1700 model)

Corded blind, Option A) (F1/1700 model), bottom-up and bottom-down corded operation.  The honeycomb blind can be fully raised and fully lowered via a pull cord that can be locked in any position between, and the cords can be situated at either the left or right side of the blind. Available to a width of 2900mm                  *optional with anti-swing mechanism.   (available automated)

Corded blind, Option B) (1710 model)

op Down and Bottom Up Corded operation. This configuration is available in widths of 2500mm and up to 3000, with an additional charge. It comes in 25mm in our contemporary narrow rail. This model requires an additional mid-rail and two cord locks on the one blind (one at each end), one to operate bottom-up and bottom-down, and one to operate top-down and top-up. This allows the blinds to be stacked in any position between the top and bottom of the window frame. For example, the blind could be positioned so that the top of the fabric, attached to the additional mid-rail, is midway up the window, with the remaining lower section covering the upper half.

Regardless of the width, only two strings are visible in the centre area of the blind, with one additional one approximately 70mm in on each side. The strings come in white but can be black or colour-coordinated with the fabric.   Available with an anti-swing system

Day Night Corded blind, option C) (1720 model)

Day Night Corded blind, option C) (1720 model)  bottom-up and bottom-down corded operation. This configuration is available in a width of up to 2200mm, also requires two cord locks on the one blind (one at each end) and an additional mid-rail. This configuration allows for two fabrics on one blind rather than only one. The selected fabric combination is most often a light-filtering fabric for daytime use and a blackout fabric for nighttime use. This means that there are effectively two blinds covering the window, providing both daytime and nighttime light control.

 Available with an anti-swing system

Chain operation blinds

Available in two models in 25mm or 38mm honey-cell. In a chain operation, the blind raises and lowers by rotating the looped chain. The chain rotates a high-ratio gear inside the headrail, making it very easy to raise and lower large blinds up to 3500mm

Chain drive, option A) : (WFK model)

(WFK model) bottom-up and bottom-down operation available in a width of up to 2300mm in a 25mm honey-cell. Top-Down and Bottom-Up operation. This configuration is available in widths of 2500mm and up to 3000, with an additional charge. It comes in 25mm or 38mm honeycomb cells, requires two chain locks on one blind (one at each end), and an additional mid-rail. This allows the blinds to be stacked in any position between the top and bottom of the window frame. For example, the blind could be positioned so that the top of the fabric, attached to the additional mid-rail, is midway up the window, with the remaining lower section covering the lower half. Just as with the corded top-down and bottom-up blinds

Cords are visible when the blind is lowered from the top. (available automated)

Mounting Options

Depending on the model and rail/profile width, honeycomb blinds can be mounted in the recess, on the wall, architrave, inside or outside on the glazing bead (depending on the window material), or mounted with adhesive on the glazing.

RECESS MOUNT (INSIDE WINDOW REVEAL)

This is the standard mounting option for most window types. The blind is measured to fit snugly within the window reveal, so that the closed blind covers the entire window opening. This option is visually discreet, as the blind sits within the window recess, rather than protruding into the room. The recess mount also allows less light into the room than a face mount, as the gaps along the lateral edges of the blind are smaller, making it a popular mounting choice for bedrooms.

MOUNTING OPTIONS FOR UPRIGHT WINDOWS FACE MOUNT (ON WALL OR ARCHITRAVE/TRIM)

The blind is mounted on the architrave parallel to the wall. It aligns with the architrave edges, so that the closed blind covers the window opening and the architrave. For models with our narrow rail width, where there is no architrave and the wall itself is suitably sturdy, the blind can be mounted directly to the wall in front of the window recess. We recommend mounting the blind 50 mm beyond each recess edge. Due to the slim design of the rail system, the rails and blind will extend only c. 28 mm into the room (excepting the operating handle)

Mounting options for cordless models:

Cordless or tensioned models are mounted by screwed inside the glazing bead, recess, on the architrave or wall or on the glazing via adhesive mount.

Adhesive fastenings on the glazing for cordless models.

Horizontal adhesive mount

Vertical adhesive mount
